Investigators Have A Theory About How Bob Saget Actually Died

When fans learned that Bob Saget died suddenly at the age of 65 in early January, 2022, they were in shock. We immediately had questions as to what happened. And then, upon finding out the beloved comedian's cause of death was a head injury, we only had more questions.

The exact circumstances surrounding the "Full House" star's passing may never be fully known by the public, especially with his family asking for details from the case to be kept private. But police involved in Saget's case are opening up to People about what they believed could have happened the night he died.

"It's definitely an unusual case," an Orange County Sheriff's deputy acknowledged to the outlet, adding, "There are still a lot of unanswered questions."

What the sheriff's office did tell People is that there was nothing they noticed that was unusual when Saget checked into the Ritz-Carlton Orlando Grande Lakes following what would be his last comedy show in Ponte Vedra, Florida on January 9.

Bob Saget died shortly after returning to his hotel room

Hotel surveillance video shows Saget walking to his ninth floor room and closing the door just before 2:30 a.m., according to People. He would not be seen alive again.

Investigators have ruled out that he may have hit his head on a marble table or counter in his room but instead believe the star fell and suffered a blow to his head on the marble bathroom floor. Saget likely lost consciousness but soon woke up and went to bed, where he later died. His time of death is chillingly believed to be around 4:00 a.m., not long after he was last seen on the surveillance video.

This is not the first theory that has emerged about how the actor died — and it won't be the last — with the New York Daily News reporting last week that he may have hit his head on the headboard of his hotel room bed. No matter what happened, the medical examiner has declared that there was no foul play involved, nor were drugs or alcohol a factor. Instead, his cause of death was said to be the result of "an unwitnessed fall backward."
