Did Shake Finally Just Publicly Apologize To Love Is Blind Ex-Fiancee Deepti?

Netflix's hit reality TV show "Love is Blind" was an instant fan favorite when the first season dropped in 2020. It gave us love triangles, messy characters to root for, and even dropped in some adorable moments for good measure. Consequently, everyone was eager to binge-watch Season 2 of "Love is Blind" the second it dropped in 2022. But because everyone knows that reality TV shows aren't complete without a villain, viewers were secretly hoping for another Jessica Batten. That said, they ended up with Shake Chatterjee: a downright cruel person who most viewers wanted to see off their screens ASAP.

The show's newest villain burst onto the scene with his cocky attitude and shallow commentary. Right from the get-go, he attempted to determine how much his future dates weighed. Things worsened when he proceeded to speak behind his ex-fiancee Deepti Vempati's back and criticize her appearance, per Insider. Just when viewers thought things couldn't get worse, Shake upped the ante during the reunion episode by offending everyone — including hosts Vanessa and Nick Lachey, according to TODAY. Towards the end, Vanessa had some harsh words for the controversial contestant, telling him that he "wanted someone to f*** with. Not fall in love with," per Cheat Sheet. But though Shake built his entire brand around being a villain, the tide seems to have changed as he finally takes accountability.

Shake Chatterjee apologizes for his words on 'Love is Blind'

Though controversial, Shake Chatterjee has maintained all along that he stands by his actions, per the Independent. In fact, The Tab reported that he's actually launching his own podcast, titled "Love Is Blurry," in order to tackle controversial topics. But since then, Shake appears to have experienced a change of heart, as he shared an Instagram video issuing a public apology to Deepti Vempati. Shake opened the video by saying that he "wanted to take this opportunity to really just say sorry to a woman that I know I hurt." He went on: "Deepti, I am truly sorry for some of the things I said. Things that, honestly, just could've been left unsaid, or could have been said differently. Things that never should have been said on national television."

And, in a rare moment of vulnerability, Shake got emotional about the pair's former relationship. "Even though I knew our relationship wasn't going to end in marriage, I didn't want what we had to end either. I loved every second of it," he said. "I'm so, so sorry that I hurt you with my words." But while seemingly heartfelt, Deepti made it clear that the apology was too little, too late. "If he was authentic about the apology or he genuinely felt sorry about what he did — he would have reached out to me when the first set of episodes dropped," Shake's ex-fiancee told Grazia.
