Inside Source Reveals Jennifer Lopez And Ben Affleck Aren't Rushing Into Wedding Plans

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck just shared exciting relationship news, but despite the fact the celebrity couple is following a similar trajectory to the one they did back in 2003, Lopez and Affleck want to make it abundantly clear history is not repeating itself.

As Us Weekly notes, Bennifer first became a thing in the early 2000s, after the actor and singer met on the set of "Gigli." They quickly became a tabloid staple, memorably sending up intense press intrusion into their relationship in Lopez's iconic "Jenny from the Block" music video. Behind the scenes, though, Bennifer was struggling. The pressure eventually got to them and, just days ahead of their planned nuptials, the couple pulled the plug.

Lopez and Affleck went their separate ways a few months later, and it's taken them until now to find their way back to each other — to their surprise more than anyone else's, as Lopez admitted to Ellen DeGeneres (via YouTube). "I feel so lucky and happy and proud to be with him," she gushed to People of their unlikely recoupling. Lopez added, "It's a beautiful love story that we got a second chance," acknowledging they both had serious concerns about media intrusion regardless.

With that in mind, the beloved couple is taking their time planning wedding number two.

Bennifer 2.0 is happily taking it one step at a time

Jennifer Lopez confirmed Ben Affleck had popped the question again in her On the JLo newsletter, per Us Weekly. The singer's new ring features a stunning, natural green, 8.5-carat diamond that she knowingly described as "perfect." Bennifer has been planning to get married for a while, with an insider revealing, "Both Ben and Jen want their wedding to be an elaborate statement of their love story for their friends and family," adding, "They want it to be intimate, but immaculate."

However, sources told People the happy couple is holding off on discussing any plans for the time being. Lopez is obsessed with her ring and incredibly happy with Affleck, but they're in no rush and even wanted to keep the engagement to themselves for a little while before sharing it with fans. It's worth noting Lopez considers green a lucky color for her, explaining in a previous newsletter, "I've realized there are many moments in my life where amazing things happened when I was wearing green."

It's likely Affleck knew exactly what he was doing when choosing the unusual diamond for her, then. Although they only rekindled their romance last year, Lopez and Affleck recently proved they were in it for the long haul by purchasing a $50 million mansion together. But it's unsurprising they're not rushing into wedding planning this time around, since sources previously confirmed Bennifer was preparing for their future by examining their past.
