Kristina's Complicated General Hospital Life Explained

The role of Kristina Corinthos-Davis on "General Hospital" has been synonymous with actor Lexi Ainsworth since she debuted in 2009. However, now that she's left the show, Kristina has been recast with Kate Mansi, who had a very successful run as Abigail Deveraux on "Days of Our Lives." Mansi has large shoes to fill, given the character's long and twisty past.

Kristina was the result of a one-night stand between attorney Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Gran) and mafia godfather Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard). Alexis tried hard to protect her daughter from Sonny's violent lifestyle, even going as far as having Ned Ashton (Wally Kurth) pose as her father. Eventually, Kristina's true paternity was revealed, and she was embroiled in several dangerous situations as a child. As a teen, Kristina got into all kinds of trouble, including accidentally causing Claudia Zacchara (Sarah Brown) to have a miscarriage when she crashed into her car. Luckily, Alexis took the blame to protect her daughter.

Kristina later got into a disturbing relationship with Kiefer Bauer (Christian Alexander), who physically and mentally abused her. After a beating sent her to the hospital, she was afraid Sonny would kill Kiefer, so she blamed Ethan Lovett (then Nathan Parsons) instead. When Kristina landed in the hospital a second time, Alexis rushed to her side, inadvertently hitting Kiefer with her car and killing him. Kiefer's father blamed Ethan for his son's death and shot up the hospital in an attempt to kill him and Kristina, though he was soon shot dead by police.

Kristina's mob ties almost killed her

Later, Kristina Corinthos-Davis began a relationship with mobster Johnny Zacchara (Brandon Barash) and was almost killed when his car blew up. She then decided to leave Port Charles for college. Kristina used her nickname "Mob Princess" as the title of a reality series she produced with Trey Mitchell (Erik Valdez). Trey's father, gangster Joe Scully Jr. (Richard Steinmetz), forced him to marry Kristina to get at Sonny Corinthos' money. Joe wanted revenge against Sonny for killing his father years earlier. When Joe tried to murder Kristina, Trey stopped him, and Sonny ended up shooting and killing Joe instead. In the aftermath, Trey and Kristina planned a new life together in Los Angeles, but he was sadly killed in a car accident. Kristina attacked Trey's mother, Connie Falconeri (Kelly Sullivan), whom she blamed for causing the accident, and was sentenced to community service. After her time was done, she went on to Wesleyan University.

There, she entered into a groundbreaking love story with her college professor, Parker Forsyth (Ashley Jones). Kristina had initially tried to barter sex for a good grade from Parker, but that failed. However, they were attracted to each other despite Parker being married. Eventually, Parker became a professor at Port Charles University, where Kristina had transferred to. Parker's marriage had ended, but the two still couldn't date because of their student-teacher relationship, so Kristina dropped out. Alexis had trouble accepting her daughter's relationship, so Kristina and Parker moved to Oregon.

Kristina has finally found her calling

Kristina Corinthos-Davis eventually returned to Port Charles after breaking up with Parker Forsyth and sought purpose in her life. She soon got involved with an organization called Dawn of Day. However, Dawn of Day was actually an evil cult led by the charismatic Shiloh (Coby Ryan McLaughlin), who planned to drug and sexually assault Kristina as part of her initiation into his inner circle. Fortunately, Sonny Corinthos' enforcer, Jason Morgan (Steve Burton), rescued her before that could happen, and a family intervention helped rid Shiloh's control over her.

Later, Kristina got a job at Charlie's Pub for a time and eventually became a manager. In 2022, in the alley behind the pub, Kristina witnessed Brando Corbin (Johnny Wactor) being stabbed by The Hook killer. Her scream chased the assailant off, but the event left her traumatized as Brando later died from his wounds.

Deciding that she wanted to do more with her life than manage a bar, Kristina got financial help from her father and is planning to open up a homeless shelter for LGBTQ+ people. She explained her project to her mother and sisters, Samantha McCall (Kelly Monaco) and Molly Lansing-Davis — who is temporarily being played by Holiday Mia Kriegel after actor Haley Pullos was arrested for DUI following a car accident. However, Sam has questioned Kristina's ability to follow any project through to the end, causing a bit of strife in the Davis clan.
