Netflix Bigwig Had 4 Mysterious Words About Meghan Markle's Rumored Acting Return

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, Duke and Duchess of Sussex, are making some big changes to their lives. The couple, who broke away from the royal family in 2020 and moved to California to start a new life together, have moved back to the U.K. Recent reports suggest that one of the reasons behind the move may be Meghan's desire to restart her acting career.

Meghan will be living the transnational life as she works to keep her company, As ever, up and running, but it also looks like the duchess may be looking to get back into acting with a role in Guy Richie's Netflix series, "The Gentlemen." Manda Levin, the streamer's director of scripted series for the U.K., has weighed in on the whispers. According to People, Levin was asked about Meghan's chances of showing up in Richie's show while attending the Edinburgh TV Festival. She responded with four mysterious words: "All bets are off."

Talks between Meghan and Netflix have reportedly been happening for some time, and Bronte Coy, who originally broke the story, spoke to BBC Radio 4 (via The Hollywood Reporter), claiming that Meghan's possible role in the show played a big role in the family's move, explaining, "This is such a key part of the puzzle." And while everyone involved has been tight-lipped on what role the duchess could play in "The Gentlemen," Coy hinted that it is more than a cameo, saying, "I'm told it's significant, and she's very excited about it."

Before she became an international sensation known for being the American who married a British prince, Meghan Markle's claim to fame was playing Rachel Zane on the hit series "Suits." Not unlike Grace Kelly before her, Meghan gave up acting when she married into the royal family in 2018, but she didn't give up on being a celebrity. After moving to the States, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex signed a $100 million deal with Netflix to create shows for the streamer. At first, things were off to a good start, with the documentary "Harry & Meghan" breaking records for Netflix, but the good times didn't last long. Meghan's lifestyle show, "With Love, Meghan," was canceled after two seasons, and the couple's production company, Archewell, has been slow to create new content for the streamer. 

But not all hope has been lost in Meghan's quest to continue her entertainment career. While the show may be over, "With Love, Meghan" has been nominated for an Emmy, and she recently filmed a cameo for the upcoming movie. Easing back into the profession after nearly a decade away from the acting game, Meghan is playing herself in "Close Personal Friends" with Brie Larson and Jack Quaid. Her appearance in the movie, even if it is just a cameo, was the first hint that she was looking to get back into the acting game, and a role in "The Gentlemen" could be the next step. But one insider doused water on the idea that it played a role in the family's move, telling Sky News, "You don't uproot your family for one role in a show."
