Judge Judy Happily Said Goodbye To This One Thing With Her Retirement
In 2026, Judge Judith "Judy" Sheindlin announced that she's retiring from her TV career after her fourth season of "Judy Justice" ends. Although she's paving the way for her son Judge Adam Levy to make his on-screen debut, viewers are going to miss seeing Sheindlin's face and her intolerance for nonsense. The feeling is probably the same for Sheindlin, who spent 30 years handling small claims cases on "Judge Judy" and "Judy Justice," but she definitely won't miss this one thing about being on TV. She told People, "I don't want to do hair and makeup anymore, but I still want my message to get out there." Though she doesn't completely want to go back to a life before the fame, she is ready to call it quits on the glam.
Sheindlin's retirement from being Judge Judy hasn't stopped her involvement with television altogether. She is producing Levy's show "Adam's Law," which premiered in mid-September 2026, and she's making an animated series called "Judyverse." After making hundreds of millions on screen, it makes sense that the attorney wants to keep working on TV projects behind the scenes.
Adam's Law isn't the first time Scheindlin got involved with her son's career
It's nice to see Judge Adam Levy is following in his mother Judge Judy Sheindlin's footsteps, and it's even sweeter to know that Sheindlin has been helping with "Adam's Law." However, Levy's new small claims show isn't the only time Sheindlin got involved in her son's career.
When Levy graduated law school, he wanted to take a year off and become a ski instructor, instead of immediately landing a job in the legal field. He told People that his mother wasn't happy and took the opportunity to get him back in law as soon as possible. One day, Levy received a job offer from the district attorney of Suffolk County, New York, and Sheindlin accepted on his behalf. "She said, 'Hi, this is Adam Levy's mom,'" he recalled. "'And yes, he's going to take that job.'" If it wasn't for his mother's intervention, Levy wouldn't be able to continue her legacy of swinging the gavel and her secret love for shutting down entitled court participants on TV. In hindsight, Levy told People that Sheindlin's "tough cookie" personality makes him grateful to be one of Judge Judy's kids.
