'It Was A Joke': Dolly Parton's Nephew Revealed Her Odd Nickname For Him Amid Family Feud

Seaver served as Parton's head of security for over 20 years, but was fired on September 15, 2026, three weeks after his aunt's death. Adding to the drama, She's Alive LLC, the organization created to handle Parton's massive estate and run by her manager Danny Nozell, was granted a restraining order against Seaver. The estate is claiming his "terrorizing conduct made their continued retention untenable" in the court documents. In messages submitted as evidence (per TMZ), Seaver supposedly said, "Her money better be bigger than I can make elsewhere or I'm going to f*** everyone" before threatening to create a podcast "dedicated to ruining Dolly's brand." In another message, Seaver states, "I'm not an entertainment person. I'm a killer."

Seaver denied the claims, telling ABC that Nozell is taking what he said out of context: "Dolly called me her killer. It was a joke we used around her camp." Seaver went on to deny the claims, saying, "I've never threatened anyone." At the same time, Seaver does not deny that the supposed nickname has some truth to it. Seaver told TMZ, "I am a career soldier and military contractor and do conduct arms deals for foreign governments. I am a security professional, and I am a killer."

While Dolly Parton's manager, Danny Nozell, and She's Alive LLC have claimed Bryan Seaver threatens the future of the legendary musician's work, at least one family member has come out to defend him. Frieda Parton, one of Dolly's 11 siblings and Seaver's aunt, took to Instagram to support her nephew. Frieda wrote, "There is no feud within our family. No one among the Parton/Owens family is fighting over Dolly's estate. We all love Bryan, just as we all love each other."

Frieda's message was met with a sigh of relief from fans of the legendary singer who were dismayed at the thought of the family battling over her estate. One person commented, "I'm sorry this was even required, although much appreciated, Frieda," and another responded, "I knew it was trolling ... the Parton family are very loving." The idea that the "Jolene" singer's family would fight over her finances isn't easy for many, with one remarking, "It's just sad there is any controversy whatsoever surrounding Dolly's estate. I'd bet she'd be very unhappy about this."

Along with her work as a musician and actor, Dolly Parton was known for her generosity. Parton's charitable work is well known, and she also took care of her family. The family lovingly referred to Parton as "Aunt Granny." Dolly not only employed a number of them; she encouraged them to go after their own dreams. As Seaver intimated when he said, "Dolly opened doors not just for me, but for her entire family to reach the potential we didn't even know was possible," in the video announcing Parton's passing.
