Will Smith is one of the most recognizable celebrities in the world, establishing himself as a bankable Hollywood superstar throughout his decades-spanning career. Fans may be surprised to learn that prior to Will's high-profile relationship with Jada Pinkett Smith, the rapper-turned-actor had previously tied the knot with Sheree Zampino. The former couple met just as Will was beginning to skyrocket to fame, though their union was ultimately short-lived. Despite divorcing in the mid-'90s, Zampino and Will maintained a close bond in the following years to co-parent their son, Trey Smith. Since their marriage, Zampino has not only fielded endless questions about her time with her famous ex but has also become a prominent entrepreneur and TV star in her own right.

Zampino's romance (and subsequent divorce) with Will became tabloid fodder in the '90s, as did the rumors surrounding their split and Will's ensuing relationship with Pinkett. Will and Zampino made the most of their split, and their blended celeb family has attracted appreciation from the masses. The exes have made sure to always prioritize their son, Trey, along with Will and Pinkett's children, Willow and Jaden Smith.

Sheree Zampino attended the Fashion Institute of Technology

Born on November 16, 1967, in Schenectady, New York, to theater company worker Les Zampino and finance manager mother Pat Zampino, Sheree Zampino knew from a young age she wanted to pursue a creative career and spent her childhood expressing an interest in fashion design. According to her official website bio, "As a little girl, when most were leaving cookies for Santa, Sheree was leaving drawings of divas in her very own fashion designs!" Zampino attended the prestigious Fashion Institute of Technology in New York, graduating in 1989 with a degree in fashion and business in hopes of starting her own style empire.

In an effort to further grow her design skills, she then headed to the West Coast and studied fashion merchandising at the Fashion Institute of Designing & Merchandising in Los Angeles. Following her move to California, Zampino dove headfirst into the fashion and entertainment industry. Ultimately, this relocation played a hand in her future relationship. Just two years later, she would find her future husband in Hollywood star Will Smith, and their relationship would serve as a major milestone in both her personal and professional life.

She married Hollywood leading man Will Smith in 1992

Sheree Zampino first met Will Smith following a unique turn of events. The Hollywood A-lister had initially gone to a taping of "A Different World" to meet star Jada Pinkett but Zampino then caught his eye. She had been visiting her friend and show writer Orlando Jones on set when she attracted Will's attention. The smitten "Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" alum asked for her number shortly after, and the couple ultimately tied the knot in May 1992. "Life was heavy, like everything just happened. He proposed to me; it was Christmas Eve. And we were planning our wedding, I got pregnant. So, I was actually three months pregnant when I got married. So, it was just a lot at once," she told Hollywood Unlocked about her whirlwind romance with Will. "And then your stuff kind of gets pushed to the side and it just becomes all about him. And people don't see you anymore and that's hard."

The Hollywood superstar and aspiring entrepreneur's marriage didn't last, as they divorced in 1995 after three years of marriage. During their union, the couple welcomed son Trey Smith in 1992. Will opened up about the failure of their relationship in 2020 while appearing on "Red Table Talk." "I've been hurt a lot in my adult life, but I don't think anything touches the failure of getting divorced from my 2-year-old son's mother," he said (via TODAY).

The couple welcomed son Trey during their marriage

Sheree Zampino and Will Smith welcomed son Willard Carroll "Trey" Smith III on November 11, 1992, the couple's first and only child together. When Trey was 2 years old, Zampino filed for divorce from Will, and they finalized the divorce in 1995. "I had a realization that I wasn't with the person I was supposed to be with," Will said during a 2018 "Red Table Talk" appearance. Immediately after signing the divorce papers, Will called Jada Pinkett Smith and their love story began, though the divorce was not yet legally finalized. According to Pinkett Smith, her mother, Adrienne Banfield-Norris, didn't approve of her involvement with Will given that he was still legally married. "He was 'div' ... the 'orced' hadn't happened yet," Pinkett Smith said during a joint Access Hollywood interview with Banfield-Norris.

During his "Red Table Talk" interview, the Oscar-winner has opened up about how devastating his separation from Zampino was, as he didn't believe in divorce. "She hit me hard. Sheree filed for divorce on Valentine's Day," Smith revealed. "And I still told her, 'No, you can't have a divorce.' And she hit me with the 'So, you're gonna make somebody stay with you who doesn't love you?' And I was like I'm actually not. Nope, I'm not." Zampino also addressed their divorce and expressed how their marriage was difficult because they were both very young and his career was blossoming. "I think at that point in time with Will's career taking off ... to start now making movies, of course he had the TV show, the rapping ... he didn't have the capacity to give me what I needed ... I didn't feel like a team," she said to Hollywood Unlocked.

Sheree Zampino is the proud owner of two prominent businesses

Sheree Zampino has crafted quite the professional empire, as she founded the skincare line WHOOP ASH! Body Butter in 2006, which is marketed to those with dry skin and is created with natural, high-quality ingredients. Per the product's website, Zampino "recognized that most dark-skinned people struggle with dry and ashy skin, so she created a product that would offer a little extra love and care for the skin." She is also the CEO and founder of the online company Sheree Elizabeth Boutique, for which she personally curates both lifestyle products and clothing pieces. Established in 2009, the online boutique was initially focused on jewelry and accessories before expanding into clothing after finding success. The Sheree Elizabeth website confidently declares, "Our promise is to offer you amazing pieces that will enhance, transform, and even reinvent your greatness!"

Zampino's online boutique also frequently hosts pop-up Sip and Shop events to help grow brand awareness and reach new customers. During these events, she sells clothing, accessories, and jewelry collections. Her two prominent businesses (specifically WHOOP ASH!) have attracted the attention of famous faces, including Samuel L. Jackson, Nia Long, and Jada Pinkett Smith. The Hollywood celebrities even provided their glowing testimonials for the body butter on the brand's official website.

Sheree Zampino was married to pastor Terrell Fletcher

Sheree Zampino married former NFL player-turned-pastor Terrell Fletcher in 2007, with their relationship playing out in the VH1 show "Hollywood Exes." Fletcher had been a running back for the San Diego Chargers (now based in Los Angeles) for eight years before pursuing a master's degree in religious studies at Southern California Seminary. Zampino and Fletcher bonded over their faith. Fletcher served as the senior pastor at City of Hope International Church from 2012 to 2023, while the business owner took the position as the director of the women's ministry, a role she held for six years. During their marriage, she also was the Director of WOW! Women on the Wall Ministries at the San Diego church.

She filed for divorce in 2014 after seven years of marriage, citing irreconcilable differences; their divorce was finalized in 2015. Following her involvement with the church, Zampino has become a motivational speaker and often discusses the importance of her spirituality. Despite two divorces, she remains optimistic and feels ready to find love again. "I have a deeper sense of self; I have a love for me. I feel whole, I feel complete," she said on the "Hardly Initiated" podcast in 2024 about her personal growth. "I don't need you to make me something, I don't need you to give me anything. I understand what my value is, I understand who I am."

She joined the cast of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills

In 2022, Sheree Zampino joined the cast of "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" for its 12th season, appearing alongside fellow stars like Kyle Richards, Erika Jayne, and Lisa Rinna. She had previously made cameos in the reality series during past seasons and was close friends with Garcelle Beauvais before becoming an official cast member. "It was just interesting because I'm a fan. I watched the show," she shared with Entertainment Tonight about joining the binge-able Real Housewives franchise. "So, there were times when it just felt like I was in a virtual reality experience and I had to remind myself, you're really here because I was just like, my mouth was open like, this is insane!" Zampino joined the series as a "friend of" and was pleased by the reaction of audiences. "I am grateful for the welcoming reception and all the kind words that the fans have had to stay."

Zampino revealed in a separate interview that she would willingly leave the show if Jada Pinkett Smith ever wanted to join, as she didn't want to compromise their friendship and co-parenting dynamic. "Honestly, I wouldn't do the show with Jada. I would never want to jeopardize what we've built. I wouldn't even take that chance," she told Page Six. She ultimately called it quits after just one season of starring in the reality series.

Sheree Zampino and Will Smith share a close relationship

Despite their highly publicized divorce, Sheree Zampino has maintained a close bond with her ex-husband Will Smith. The two frequently share photos together on social media and openly voice support for one another. For instance, Will has praised the reality star on various occasions, and he paid tribute to both Zampino and Jada Pinkett Smith in 2025 for Mother's Day with a series of images featuring their blended family. He also honors the entrepreneur on her birthday. "Happy Bday, @shereezampino. #BestBabyMamaEver! :-) I Love You, Ree-Ree," he wrote on Instagram in 2018 alongside a throwback photo of the pair with their son, Trey Smith.

Zampino was even present following Will's infamous slap and Oscar win in 2022. "Epic Night! Congratulations again — when 1 wins we all win! #family1st," she wrote in a post on Instagram with a snapshot of her posing next to Will and his Oscar. They have remained supportive of one another since their divorce, doing so for the sake of their son. "At the time I got divorced, it was a long, long, long time ago. Social media wasn't even in existence," she told Fox News before opening up about her current dynamic with Will. "So, I didn't deal with it in such a public way. When we got divorced, it was obvious that we didn't work. But now, it's about our son. I'm telling you, we made the shift beautifully."

Sheree Zampino worked hard to successfully co-parent

Sheree Zampino remains vocal about the highs-and-lows of co-parenting (especially with a famous celebrity), and she has expressed her appreciation for the dynamic she shares with both her ex and Jada Pinkett Smith. "With Jada, it was like, as long as she treats [Trey Smith] well, we're good. We're good. And she's treated him well and she's loved him," she said on the "Behind the Velvet" podcast (via Us Weekly). "You got three different dynamics, three different personalities and different belief systems, different way of doing things. And there were times we have bumped heads and it hasn't been pretty," Zampino further shared of the growing pains they initially experienced co-parenting.

"But listen, we get back on that horse and we press on. We do what we have to do because again, at the end of the day, it's about the kids," she said. Zampino also acknowledged that she and Smith work together much better as co-parents than they ever did as a couple. Though, that isn't to say that there aren't any ups and downs in Will's relationship with Pinkett Smith. That said, when Trey was younger, the movie star had a strained relationship with his eldest child, as Smith took a big step back out of fear his son would witness the ugly side of their divorce. "In the first couple years of Trey's life, because Sheree and I were divorced, I think my desire to never have my son see me in that way made me more absent as a father," Smith confessed on "Red Table Talk," per People.

Sheree Zampino is a talented cook and hosts pop-up meals

Sheree Zampino is a gifted cook who has also pursued her culinary dreams, sharing her own recipes on her social media (including her signature mac 'n' cheese) while also hosting pop-up meals around the country. In 2020, Jada Pinkett Smith invited Zampino to appear on her show, "Red Table Talk," to prepare a Thanksgiving meal, and the Smiths all marveled over Zampino's skills in the kitchen, as well as her family recipes. Zampino revealed on the Facebook Watch series that she first began cooking as a young child because her mother was busy providing. "My mom, single mom, raising two kids," Sheree said on the show. "And she'd get home — she's working, working mom — so she'd get home at about 7 o'clock and we'd be home at 3 [o'clock]. That's a big gap! So, I cooked out of the necessity to not starve to death, you know what I mean? So, I cooked for my brother."

Zampino and Pinkett Smith bond over their love of food and cooking, while making up delicious dishes at their blended family gatherings. "As a distinguished comfort food cook, Sheree often hosts friends and family at her home for meals that range from happy hour tapas style to lavish spreads and holiday meals," her bio reads on the WHOOP ASH! website. It also refers to Zampino as a "cuisine connoisseur" and that cooking allows her combine her love of fine arts and spending time with family.

She became good friends with Jada Pinkett Smith

Sheree Zampino managed to make lemonade out of lemons when she became good friends with her ex-husband's wife despite their unique circumstances. Zampino and Jada Pinkett Smith have grown close over the years, and they often compliment one another on their blended family and co-parenting, though their relationship has faced its own hurdles. "When Will [Smith] and Jada got together, Jada wasn't a mom," she told Us Weekly. "So, she wasn't experienced, she didn't have a certain understanding ... So, that sometimes caused a little friction." However, Zampino added that Pinkett Smith was always caring toward her son Trey Smith, which ultimately helped them set the foundation for their friendship.

Both ladies are open and honest about how it took a lot of work to develop their friendship. In 2018, Pinkett Smith even praised Zampino as her "entry point to motherhood" in an interview with Access Hollywood. "I do believe that my relationship with Sheree has been one of the fundamental relationships in my life that has forced me to expand my thinking, my heart, [and] my concepts of love." The dynamic between Zampino and Pinkett Smith has seemingly remained positive over the years, as they both share photos of one another on their social media accounts on major holidays. The pair also reunited for Trey Smith's 33rd birthday in 2025 and smiled for a snapshot alongside Trey, Will, and Jaden Smith. They even teamed up for the first episode of "Red Table Talk" in 2018, which honored Mother's Day.

Sheree Zampino's ties to Will Smith led to a lawsuit

In 2026, Sheree Zampino put on a united front with Will and Jada Pinkett Smith when she sued Bilaal Salaam, a former associate and friend of the Hollywood actor, after he made salacious statements about her and her previous marriage to Smith. Zampino's $1 million lawsuit claimed Salaam made "outrageously offensive, shocking, and hurtful statements," per People, while appearing on the YouTube series "Unwine with Tasha K." According to Zampino's lawsuit, Salaam's remarks made her out to be "promiscuous and sexually indiscriminate."

The Smiths found themselves swept up in their own battle with Salaam over accusations he waged against them several years earlier, with reports of tension between the three going back to 2021. In 2023, Salaam then claimed that Smith engaged in an extramarital affair with fellow actor Duane Martin, but Will and Jada Pinkett Smith vehemently denied the allegations. "It's ridiculous, right? And it's nonsense," Pinkett Smith said on "The Breakfast Club" in 2023 (via People). Salaam subsequently filed a $3 million lawsuit against the "Girls Trip" star, alleging that she had threatened him over the accusations he made about their marriage.

Zampino allegedly became caught in the crossfire and took action against Salaam, who later claimed she had been unfaithful to Smith numerous times during their marriage. Zampino declared the statements were "entirely false" and constituted "slander per se" in the state of California (via People). The business owner added that she has faced "humiliation, embarrassment, emotional distress, mental anguish, and damage to her reputation" as a result of his words and is, therefore, seeking punitive damages in her lawsuit.
