Timeless Baby Names Inspired By Hallmark's The Way Home
Hallmark Channel's hit series "The Way Home" was a fan-favorite during the show's four seasons on the network. In fact, this time travel-centric drama even has a 91% on Rotten Tomatoes. In an exclusive interview with The List, the series star Chyler Leigh told us "The Way Home" fans inspire her deep gratitude. And we happen to think the series can return the favor and provide some baby name inspiration for its fans.
There are so many adorable baby names inspired by Hallmark Channel movies and shows for fans of the wholesome network who are in search of a special moniker. Our list of dreamy baby names inspired by Hallmark's "When Calls the Heart" provides plenty of classic, vintage-inspired picks from the period piece. Yet, for a name that's truly timeless, it's worth checking out the series that knows a thing or two about traveling to the past and coming back to the present with a bit of wisdom, some knowledge of where you came from, and perhaps some baby name ideas that are as fresh and exciting as they are time-tested.
Kat is sweet and simple
Kat Landry is the protagonist of "The Way Home," so it's no surprise that Kat is likely one of the first names fans think of when it comes to the show. Kat is a special name, as it's short and strong, yet it also has a lot of personality. The Greek name started out as a nickname for Katherine, making it a nice selection if you're looking for a time-honored name with a fun, relaxed nickname. Of course, Kat can also stand alone for a simple name that's adorable and spirited.
Alice is a classic that never gets old
Like mother, like daughter — we love what Kat Landry named her baby, too. Alice likely reminds most people of "Alice In Wonderland," which seems fitting here since Lewis Carroll's "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" is what made the French and German name popular. It's seen quite a bump in popularity since the early aughts; in 2025, it was No. 65 for baby girls born in the U.S., per The Bump. This name also gives your little girl some wiggle room with what she'll be called, since those with the name often go by Al or Allie.
Chyler is such a unique name idea
Most names in "The Way Home" are solid gold oldies, but a name doesn't have to be well-known to stand the test of time. That's what makes the star who plays Kat Landry's real name so special. Chyler Leigh's name is unique, yet it's far from out-there. Chyler is pronounced like Kyler, and of course, that serves as an alternative spelling for the name. Per The Bump, since the '80s, the name Kyler has gradually grown in popularity for boys in the U.S., meaning this name definitely works for all babies, regardless of gender.
Noah is reliable but not overdone
Noah is one of those names that never seems to stop being popular, yet it always feels special. Noah LeBlanc is often seen around town on "The Way Home," and we're fans of his familiar name. We're definitely not the only ones, either. Noah nearly topped the list of the top 10 baby names for boys in 2025. It's worth noting that while it's far less common, Noah can be a great choice for a baby girl, too.
Del blends fresh and new with strong and classic
Del Landry is the matriarch at the heart of "The Way Home." She also happens to provide some of the series' best baby name inspiration. In her case, Del is short for Delilah, which is a great option if you are looking for a sweet moniker with a short and spunky nickname. With that said, Del could also stand on its own and would work perfectly for a baby girl or baby boy.
Andie is cute and gender neutral
While we're big fans of Del, it's not the only name inspo you can derive from Del Landry. The character is played by Hallmark mainstay Andie MacDowell, and she has a moniker that's almost as interesting as her character's name. Andie is a name with an adorable feel. Of course, this name is more typical for boys with the spelling Andy. While this is a tried and true choice for boys, over the past few decades, both spellings have gained popularity for girls, per The Bump.
Colton is a popular pick
Just like Del takes her nickname from Delilah, Colton Landry, Del's late husband, is sometimes called Cole for short. Colton is a British name that's remained consistently popular in the U.S. for decades. In 2025, it ranked 103 in the U.S. for baby boy names, per The Bump. Clearly this name has quite a following, and it gets bonus points for coming with a cool nickname. It's worth noting, of course, that Cole is a special standalone pick, too.
Susanna is lovely and strong
As a reliable healer, Susanna Augustine from "The Way Home" would be a lovely namesake for a baby girl. Luckily, Susanna is also a lovely name. While classic, Susanna has, overall, declined in popularity in recent years, meaning if your baby girl has this name, she won't likely be one of many, per The Bump. The moniker has many different spelling options, as well as nicknames like Suzie and Sue, allowing it to grow and evolve with your little one.
Elliot is seriously underrated
Elliot Augustine is certainly a central character in "The Way Home," and his name has a fittingly nice ring to it. According to The Bump, Elliot has remained surprisingly consistent in its popularity with boys in the U.S. since the late 1880s. Somehow, though, it never seems overdone. Interestingly, the name has increased in popularity drastically for girls over the past few decades. For girls, Ellie is a great nickname option, as are alternative spellings like Eliot or Elliotte. Or, you can channel Elliot Augustine's nickname and simply go with El.
Monica is a stunning choice
If you have a baby girl on the way and you're a fan of "The Way Home" (and "Friends," for that matter), then there's one perfect name choice for you. Yes — it's Monica. On "The Way Home," Monica Hill runs the local diner, so we simply had to add Monica to our baby name menu. The Latin name hit peak popularity in the late '70s, according to The Bump. Since the late '90s, however, it has been on a downward slump for baby girls in the U.S. It's time for this strong, graceful name to make a comeback.
