Lauren Bacall is remembered as one of the most beautiful women in the world — and her granddaughter, Brooke Audette, is equally stunning. A product of Bacall's relationship with the great actor Humphrey Bogart, Audette's name was originally Brooke Bogart. Her father, Stephen Humphrey Bogart, was the one to pass on the family name, which Audette held until she got married in 2016.

Although Lauren Bacall and Humphrey Bogart's affair remains legendary in Hollywood, their only granddaughter, Audette, has not appeared keen to relive their history. It's an interesting choice, seeing as Bacall has been known to remember her relationship with Bogart fondly. As she told Vanity Fair in 2011, "I fairly often have thought how lucky I was. I knew everybody because I was married to Bogie, and that 25-year [age] difference was the most fantastic thing for me to have in my life."

But rather than vying for a spot in the spotlight like her grandmother, Audette has pursued a low-key life. The Hollywood descendant has opted to focus on quieter careers like social work and real estate instead of acting or singing. Despite these differences between Bacall's formerly star-studded lifestyle and Audette's more private modern existence, the resemblance between the two women is undeniable. Like her grandmother before her, Audette has been known to work hard and create business opportunities for herself, keeping the family legacy alive.

Brooke Audette grew up surrounded by brothers and a doting father

Lauren Bacall may have been one of the most fascinating women of her generation, but that doesn't mean that her granddaughter grew up in a particularly feminine environment. On the contrary, Brooke Audette was raised around a lot of boys — no thanks to her two brothers. Brooke's father, Stephen Humphrey Bogart, had a son, Jamie Bogart, from his first marriage. He then welcomed another son, Richard Bogart, during his marriage to Brooke's mom.

Throughout her childhood, Brooke's dad took his parenting responsibilities very seriously. He had long grappled with his own complicated childhood. Like many nepo babies who have been open about their struggles, Stephen has been open about the fact that his parents' focus was never on raising him. As Stephen told The Guardian, "But kids were always on the periphery. They were secondary to the guys and girls getting together. The drinking, the smoking, the laughing, the parties."

With this in mind, Stephen did his best not to repeat his parents' mistakes. The first thing he did? Decide whether or not he even wanted a family. As Stephen revealed in the aforementioned interview with The Guardian, he believes that it's important to have children for the right reasons — unlike his own parents. It seems that he had Jamie, Richard, and Brooke not because he wanted a mini-me but rather out of a desire to be a present father.

Her family kept her out of the spotlight

Lauren Bacall's granddaughter may hail from Hollywood royalty, but that doesn't mean that she feels comfortable with the spotlight. Growing up, Brooke Audette's parents did not exactly beg her to grace paparazzi pictures. Instead, they tried to protect her from the overexposure that her father, Stephen Humphrey Bogart, experienced throughout his earliest years. Indeed, when Stephen was young, his parents allowed his image to appear in newspapers and magazines. Much of the world knew who he was, and when he got older, Stephen became a celeb son whose own attempt at fame never took off. This proved extremely challenging for him.

Because of this, Stephen has made a point of not talking about his children during interviews. Jamie Bogart, Richard Bogart, and Brooke's personal information has remained mostly private. And each of these three individuals has had the chance to create their own identity beyond the memory of their grandparents. This is, apparently, more than Stephen ever got. As Bacall divulged in an interview with Vanity Fair, "Steve, who was the first child, has been trying to find an identity for himself besides being Humphrey Bogart's son. It's a terrible thing to have to rise above that. You can't."

Lauren Bacall's granddaughter tried her hand at modeling

Lauren Bacall's granddaughter, Brooke Audette, was not raised to be a star. However, for a brief moment, Audette considered becoming a model. When she was just 19 years old, Audette decided to launch a career in the spotlight and signed with Major Model Management. This was, incidentally, the same age that Bacall had been when she made her big break. At first, it seemed that her modeling career would be a huge hit. She even landed the cover of Page Six Magazine in 2008, under the headline, "Introducing Brooke Bogart." Over time, though, it became clear that Audette would not become one of the most notable top models.

Why Audette did not continue modeling remains an open question, but a hint may lie in her interview with Page Six (via Best Life). During that conversation, Audette revealed that she's not exactly your typical celebrity nepo baby. "Some people think I'm a — what's it called? — an heiress, because of who my grandparents are, but I'm not like that at all," she shared. Because Audette was not necessarily raised for a life of fame, she ultimately decided to enjoy normalcy.

She pursued a career in social work before switching to real estate

Rather than dedicating her life to modeling, Brooke Audette decided to pursue a career in social work. She began her education at Virginia Wesleyan College, where she earned a soccer scholarship to play on the school's Division I team, according to her profile on Zillow. After graduating, she headed off to Florida Atlantic University (FAU) to earn a master's degree in social work.

Lauren Bacall's granddaughter then worked as a therapist at the Mandala Healing Center in West Palm Beach, Florida, where she helped people dealing with different forms of addiction. According to her profile on LinkedIn, Audette worked at the center for six years until 2022.

Eventually, Audette realized that she was ready for a change. After leaving the Mandala Healing Center, Audette decided to dive into the world of South Florida real estate, landing a job as an agent at Compass. As of this writing, Audette continues to work for the brokerage group. She now maintains a five-star average rating on Zillow.

Brooke Audette lost her grandmother, Lauren Bacall

Lauren Bacall's granddaughter, Brooke Audette, has enjoyed a marvelous career. However, tragically, her grandmother has not been able to watch her success. Back in 2014, before Audette even began working at the Mandala Healing Center, Bacall died at the age of 89. The untold truth of Lauren Bacall is that she enjoyed a diverse and fascinating career, working as both a model and an usher before getting her big break in Hollywood. It would have been wonderful for Bacall to see the twists and turns in her own granddaughter's career, but she did not get that chance.

While Audette did not make any sort of public statement regarding Bacall's death, the Humphrey Bogart estate did release some sweet words to the press. Run by Brooke's father, Stephen Humphrey Bogart, the institution shared a statement reading, "With deep sorrow for the magnitude of our loss, yet with great gratitude for her amazing life, we confirm the passing of Lauren Bacall," according to New Progressive. It seems that Audette's grandmother was greatly missed.

Brooke Bogart married Michael Audette

Lauren Bacall's death prevented her from attending many important family events, including the wedding of her granddaughter, Brooke Audette. In October 2016, it was announced to The Lowell Sun that Brooke was engaged to Mike Audette and that the couple were looking forward to a wedding that same month. According to the report, Mike was working as an admissions counselor for Palm Partners at the time of the announcement.

Just a few weeks after Audette's big news hit the papers, Brooke posted a photo of what appeared to be her bridal makeup on Facebook. Glammed up like her late grandmother, Brooke's Hollywood roots were there for all to admire. More than a dozen of her closest friends and relatives left comments gushing about her beauty beneath the post, despite Brooke's more low-key profile.

Since Brooke and Mike tied the knot, they have appeared to maintain a very supportive and loving relationship. Mike has been known to applaud Brooke's real estate ventures on LinkedIn. In one post, he reposted a home that Brooke had sold with the caption, "Amazing job!" In an earlier LinkedIn post, Mike added, "Congratulations Brooke Bogart. It was a pleasure to witness the hard work and dedication you provided to your client!!" Clearly, Mike admires his wife's hard work.
