Here's What You Don't Know About Patrick Mahomes And Brittany Matthew's Pregnancy

A few months ago, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and his fiancée Brittany Matthews announced that they were expecting their first child. This news came less than a month after Mahomes' very public proposal to his longtime partner of eight years (per Page Six).

The birth announcement first came in September of 2020, with an Instagram post on Matthews' account. Less than a month earlier, Mahomes had proposed to Matthews after his Super Bowl ring ceremony inside one of the suites at Arrowhead Stadium (via Today). "Mom & Dad, taking a small detour to the wedding," Matthews posted to her Instagram.

Relatively speaking, 2020 was a great year for the couple, with Mahomes' team, the Kansas City Chiefs, winning the Super Bowl against the San Francisco 49ers — their first championship in 50 years. Not only that, but Mahomes is also hoping to lead his team to another Super Bowl victory in 2021 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Feb. 7 (per Today). And, with the due date of their first child imminent as well, it appears as though 2021 will be another stellar year for the couple.

Brittany Matthews has been sharing her maternity workouts on social media

Expectant parents Brittany Matthews and Patrick Mahomes first met as students at Whitehouse High School in Texas. Though they went to separate colleges, they managed to maintain a seemingly strong romantic relationship through the years. Matthews, in a similar fashion to her athletic partner, is a certified personal trainer and often posts workout videos to her Instagram (per Page Six). Throughout her entire pregnancy, Matthews has continued her fitness streak by posting pregnancy-safe workouts that still benefit her followers.

In one Instagram post, Matthews offers an important shoutout to all mothers to be, saying: Honestly, I'm lucky enough to get 3 workouts in a week so full body is just what I am doing right now. Listening to my body, and just keeping it moving is where I'm at right now. Everyone is different, every pregnancy journey is different, but we are all mamas creating a beautiful child and that is such a blessing!!"

Brittany Matthews and Patrick Mahomes are expecting a girl

Throughout the past few months, Brittany Matthews and Patrick Mahomes have celebrated the impending birth of their daughter with rather lavish parties, including Matthews' baby shower, which included a trip on a private jet to a mysterious destination. She later shared pictures of the party on social media, along with the caption: "Thanks to my gals for going to TX to shower baby girl and I. Everyone has quarantined and been COVID tested for my baby shower. Thankful to have amazing close friends and family that will stay safe for the sake of me & my baby girl" (via E!).

Matthews' official pregnancy shoot was also posted on her Instagram account just one week ago, showing a very pregnant Matthews amid dozens of pink flowers. Photos from the official shoot weren't the only images that made it onto the fitness expert's Instagram account though. She also shared several behind-the-scenes images from the shoot, including pictures of her getting glammed up and ready for her on-camera session.

Matthews has also gone on social media to give fans a look at what her baby girl's room looks like. The nursery is done up in a moon-and-stars theme, and accessorized with furniture fit for a baby princess, and in muted tones of soft cream and pink. In one photo, Matthews excitedly posted her baby girl's bejeweled drawer handles with the caption "The most beautiful handles for the most beautiful baby girl" (via Life and Style).

Patrick Mahomes is gearing up for two big events

While mom Brittany Matthews has been busy marking milestones and celebrating her daughter's soon arrival, dad Patrick Mahomes has been keeping his eye on the prize: that is, the opportunity to secure another championship win in just a week at Super Bowl LV (and perhaps another MVP, per ESPN). And while we're sure he's committed to bringing home a historic back-to-back victory for the Kansas City Chiefs, Mahomes is perhaps even more excited to finally meet his daughter. "Hopefully right after the Super Bowl I'm able to bring a little girl into this world and get to become a dad in the offseason and get to see that process as well," Mahomes told Kansas City's 610 Sports Radio show, The Drive.

And, judging from Matthews' rapidly growing waistline, it's likely that Mahomes will get to meet his new baby daughter very soon.
