Tammy Slaton Hints At Bad News For Fans Of 1000-Lb Sisters

The Slaton sisters, Amy and Tammy, have come a long way since their humble beginnings as YouTube stars taking the "Chubby Bunny Marshmallow Challenge." Their close bond, along with their mutual concern about their weight, soon resulted in their own reality show on TLC: 1000-Lb Sisters. In just two seasons, their personal lives have taken some dramatic turns. Amy made enough progress in her weight loss to qualify for bariatric surgery, which she hoped would help her health. To her delight, she found she was expecting shortly after having the operation, and last fall, she welcomed her son Gage. (Her future goals include having a daughter.)

Tammy, on the other hand, has been struggling. Despite the love and support of her family, she's nowhere near ready for a gastric bypass of her own; in fact, the most recent episode showed that she's continuing to gain weight (via People). She did, however, admit to having a food addiction, which her doctor said is the first step toward getting the professional help that she needs to make progress. At the moment, she is working on recovering from a recent bout with the coronavirus; recent social media posts show that Tammy is still on oxygen.

Viewers can hardly wait to see what happens next for the Kentucky sisters. But will they be able to find out? That question seems to be up in the air.

The future of 1000-LB Sisters is up in the air

TLC is known for withholding details about the future of their shows until the new season is almost ready to drop; since 1000-Lb Sisters just aired its season finale, it's not surprising that they haven't yet announced a Season 3. While it's hard to imagine that the network would cancel such a popular program, one never knows what may happen. Sometimes personal circumstances play a part; 19 Kids and Counting was abruptly yanked from the TLC lineup after it was revealed that eldest son Josh had molested several of his sisters (via ABC).

What's really troubling fans, however, is something Tammy revealed on her TikTok account. According to CheatSheet, when a commenter to one video asked her whether she would be appearing in the next season, Tammy said she didn't know. This could mean one of several things. The Slatons may be just as unsure as everyone else about what TLC is planning to do. Considering Tammy's current health problems and her lack of progress in qualifying for surgery, producers may decide to focus exclusively on Amy for the next season. Or: Is it possible that Tammy is thinking of leaving the show in order to focus on her weight-loss goals – and possibly get therapy to help her work through her food issues?

Whatever happens, Slaton fans are standing behind the sib-stars and wishing them all the best. One of Tammy's Instagram followers wrote, "Worried about you and hope you are working toward your goals, Tammy!"
