Frances Bean Cobain Almost Starred In This Iconic Teen Franchise
Frances Bean Cobain, the only daughter of late Nirvana rocker Kurt Cobain and Hole singer Courtney Love, has lived most of her life without her dad (via Radio X). Kurt died when Frances was just 18 months old. Because of his untimely death, the 28-year-old controls her late father's fortune, which created a strange relationship with money for her. "My relationship with money is different because I didn't earn it. It's almost like this big giant loan that I'll never get rid of ... It feels like money from somebody that I've never met, let alone earned myself," she told the publication.
Frances is a model and a musician, occasionally recording videos like this one posted by a fan account on YouTube of herself singing and playing guitar. The celebrity daughter very nearly had a different path that would've changed her life and the entire course of a popular teen franchise if she'd pursued a particular job that movie executives offered her when she'd just barely become a teenager. The only child of the late grunge singer might have made her own fortune, too.
Here's why Frances Bean Cobain turned down a popular movie role
Frances Bean Cobain's mom told Howard Stern on his May 30, 2013 show something astonishing about which movie franchise hoped to get the then-13-year-old Frances (via ET). Somebody associated with the film wanted Kurt Cobain's daughter to play the role of Bella Swan in the "Twilight" franchise. Love told Stern, "Someone just saw a picture of her in a magazine and sent me the script for 'Twilight.'" Instead of Kristen Stewart snagging the role and becoming a massive star, Frances could have been the one who rose to instant stardom. However, Love didn't want becoming a child movie star to ruin her daughter's life.
According to The Cut, Love revealed that her daughter called the script "a sexist, Mormon, piece of s***." Ultimately, Frances turned it down, which paved the way for Stewart, who went on to have an extensive career, including starring in an upcoming role in a film as Princess Diana. There's no denying that the entire cast of the "Twilight" saga could have looked a lot different without Stewart portraying Bella.
