The Social Media Message That Has Louis Tomlinson Fans Excited For 2022

Although One Direction only made music for five years, its impact on the world has lasted much longer. Throughout their active years, the boy band played four sold-out world tours, amassed four No. 1 albums on the Billboard 200 chart, and won 28 Teen Choice Awards (via Billboard). Since the 2015 breakup, each member of One Direction has launched a successful solo career. Harry Styles became a Grammy Award-winning artist for the infectious single "Watermelon Sugar," Zayn Malik's first solo song "PILLOWTALK" boasts over one billion streams on Spotify, Niall Horan's hit single "Slow Hands" topped the Billboard Top Adult Pop Songs Chart, and Liam Payne successfully pivoted from pop star to hip-hop up-and-comer with his debut single "Strip That Down" (via Entertainment Weekly).

Though each member of the group has finally hit his stride, fans can't help but hope that One Directions "hiatus" will eventually come to an end (via Insider). Thankfully Tomlinson's recent tweet, suggests the long-awaited reunion may be closer than we think (via Twitter).

Is One Direction finally going to reunite?

On January 18th, Louis Tomlinson tweeted, "Not Long Now." This cryptic Twitter message sent Directioners into a frenzy. Many fans started speculating that One Direction may finally reunite (via Express Co). One fan commented under his tweet, " Hopefully he's talking about the reunion he promised us," while another wrote, "FOR A 1D REUNION??" followed by crying emojis. Aside from this tweet, Liam Payne promised the One Direction reunion will happen. He revealed to the Mirror that he's spoken about the reunion with Tomlinson and they both agree "it has to be sooner rather than later."

Payne also revealed that he is gearing up for a mini-reunion with former bandmate Niall Horan. According to The Sun, Payne is working on his golf skills and training to beat Niall in a game. Though fans are excited to see Horan and Payne back together, Styles and Malik have yet to indicate they are ready to reunite. Styles is currently booked through the end of 2022 with his show "Love on Tour" (via Twitter), while Zayn Malik is currently busy "working on himself" after his alleged dispute with Yolanda Hadid (via In Touch Weekly).
