The Duggar Family's Silence About Jill's Birthday Has Fans Jumping To Conclusions
The following article includes mention of child sexual abuse.
Jill Duggar Dillard's relationship with her parents, Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, has been shaky, and she drove the wedge further when unsealed court documents revealed Jill's true feelings about her father. During a battle over finances related to her "Counting On" reality show, Jill said her father became "verbally abusive" and "controlling," creating a "toxic" relationship. They're also at odds over her brother Josh. The oldest of the 19 Duggar children is awaiting sentencing on his conviction of possessing child sexual abuse material, per Insider. Jill and her husband Derick have condemned Josh, while Michelle has petitioned the judge for a light sentence.
It comes as no surprise, then, that the Duggar family Instagram page let Jill's May 17 birthday slide without so much as a cake emoji. The family feed often celebrates birthdays and special events, such as the recent wedding of son Jeremiah. The senior Duggars have also rejoiced publicly with each addition to the family, such as son Jedidiah's new baby boy and John-David's Mother's Day pregnancy news, but they have thus far ignored the fact that Jill and her husband, Derick, are expecting their third son this summer (via their website). But Jill still has plenty of people in her corner.

Jinger, Jessa, and Amy are on Team Jill
On May 17, her 31st birthday, Jill Duggar Dillard posted a selfie from her car, smiling as she balanced a travel cup on her visible baby bump. The post got nearly 70,000 likes, plus comments from friends and fans. Sister Jinger Duggar Vuolo wrote, "Love you so much, Jill! Hbd! Hope it's the best day." Jill responded: "thanks sis! LYSM2!!" Jessa Duggar Seewald wrote, "You're radiant! Can't wait to meet this baby! Happy bday, sis!!"
Their cousin Amy Duggar King also sent her best wishes, writing, "Couldn't love you more birthday girl!" This was more than a simple greeting — it sent a clear message that King supports Jill, even if her parents don't. King has been vocal about condemning Josh Duggar, even begging Anna Duggar to do the unthinkable and divorce her husband.
An active thread on the Duggars Snark Reddit page is titled, "Will Jill get a birthday shout out from Duggar page? Probably not." Among the comments on the thread is this one: "It's just so sad. Jill was the obedient, perfect child..then they drop her like a hat." Another agreed, "Jill did everything for them. She was obedient. She followed all their rules. She raised at least three of their children. She went on Megyn Kelly emotionally broken but trying to do what her father thought was right. At the end of the day [Jim Bob] chose Josh over Jill and it's freaking disgusting."
