Celebs You Didn't Know Were In-Laws
Hollywood is a small world after all. It's always fun to hear that a celebrity is linked to another famous person through marriage. Just imagine what Thanksgiving dinner is like at Diana Ross' house; well, one former teen pop star knows firsthand what the "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" singer likes on her mashed potatoes. And her sister-in-law also happens to be one of the most talented comic actors working today.
Some of your favorite A-List actors and musicians are surprisingly related through marriage to create some of the most dazzling and talented family trees imaginable. You may already know a few of these famous celebrity in-laws, but some unexpected connections are sure to surprise. Who gets to share a Negroni with Stanley Tucci? Which sitcom alum turned Marvel star can pester Arnold Schwarzenegger to say "I'll be back"? And which teen actor turned adult movie star can sing a duet with Jon Bon Jovi?
Stanley Tucci is married to Emily Blunt's sister, Felicity Blunt
Later-in-life sex symbol Stanley Tucci first met his future wife, Felicity Blunt, a literary agent and sister of Emily Blunt, at the 2006 premiere of "The Devil Wears Prada." Both Tucci and Emily Blunt co-starred in the comedy, which has become a pop culture phenomenon. At the time, Tucci was still married to his first wife, Kate Tucci.
Kate died of breast cancer in 2009 at the age of 47. About a year and a half later, Tucci reconnected with Felicity at her sister's wedding to John Krasinski, and the pair started dating. They got engaged a year later and tied the knot in 2012. At 21 years, Stanley Tucci has quite the massive age gap with wife Felicity Blunt, which was initially something the "Conclave" actor was concerned about. "I'm 21 years older than she is and I didn't want to feel old for the rest of my life! But I knew this was an incredibly special person," Tucci said during a 2023 interview with BBC's "Desert Island Discs" podcast.
Tucci and Blunt shared the screen once again in 2026's "The Devil Wears Prada 2" and played off of their family connection while promoting the movie. "We are over-related now, we spend way too much time together, and now we're doing a press tour together," Blunt said during an interview with "Good Morning America" (via ABC News). "Yeah, she's like my parasitic twin," Tucci joked.
Millie Bobby Brown is married to Jon Bon Jovi's son Jake Bongiovi
When Millie Bobby Brown wed Jake Bongiovi in May 2024, she married into rock royalty. Jake is the third of four children of Bon Jovi frontman Jon Bon Jovi and his high school sweetheart/longtime wife, Dorothea Hurley Bongiovi. The "Stranger Things" star and Bongiovi, who is an actor and producer, wasted no time in starting a family. "This summer we welcomed our sweet baby girl through adoption," the couple wrote on Instagram in August 2025. "We are beyond excited to embark on this beautiful next chapter of parenthood in both peace and privacy."
Brown and Bongiovi's daughter was the second grandchild for the "Livin' on a Prayer" singer. During a 2026 interview with "Today," Brown talked about Jon and Dorothea's roles as grandparents. "They just had her the other day for the whole day, and they went to Target and got like a cart full of things for her," she said.
And what's it like to have the Jersey legend as a grandfather? "You know he's just always on the floor crawling around with her and dying laughing, videoing every new thing she does. He's the best and so is Dorothea, my amazing mother-in-law," Brown added. "They're the most present grandparents, and we couldn't be luckier to have them in her life." The young couple added to their brood the following September when they adopted a son.
Mark Ronson is married to Meryl Streep's daughter Grace Gummer
Mark Ronson and Grace Gummer tied the knot in 2021 and have two children together. Ronson is a music producer extraordinaire who has collaborated with the biggest names in popular music, including Lady Gaga, Miley Cyrus, and Bruno Mars. Ronson has won five Grammy Awards and also works as a DJ. Gummer is a Broadway and screen actor with standout performances on shows like "The Newsroom" and "Mr.Robot." Gummer's mother also happens to be Hollywood legend Meryl Streep.
At the 2024 Grammy Awards, Ronson and Streep showed off their playful relationship while presenting the award for record of the year. Streep feigned ignorance when she announced that they would be handing out the honor for album of the year. Ronson corrected his mother-in-law, "best record of the year." Streep cheekily reminded Ronson of his Grammy loss to Billie Eilish earlier in the evening. But Streep followed her takedown with a sweet kiss on the cheek. Surprisingly, Meryl Streep has more Grammy nominations than you'd think, with seven nods, mostly for narrating children's books.
The "Uptown Funk" producer was asked what it's like to have Streep as a mother-in-law during a 2025 interview with The Observer. "It's great, and she clearly did something great, because my wife is the most grounding person that has ever come into my life," Ronson responded.
Eddie Murphy's son Eric Murphy married Martin Lawrence's daughter, then Jasmin Lawrence
When Martin Lawrence was getting his feet wet in Hollywood, the then-unknown actor met Eddie Murphy. "I remember when I first came to California, I had the honor of meeting my idol, Eddie Murphy," Lawrence said during his speech at Netflix's "The AFI Life Achievement Award: A Tribute to Eddie Murphy" (via Entertainment Weekly). "Went up to his security, 'Can I meet him,' and they said, 'Yeah, you can meet him.' And Eddie was leaned over so cool, and I said, 'Eddie Murphy, I'm Martin Lawrence. Brotha, can I take a picture with you?' Eddie looked me in the eyes and said, 'No.'"
Martin eventually got to stand beside Murphy. The actor had a small role in the 1992 romantic comedy "Boomerang" before co-starring with Murphy in the 1999 buddy comedy "Life." However, these days, the two comedy legends are bonded by more than just celluloid. Lawrence's daughter, now Jasmin Murphy, and Eddie Murphy's son Eric Murphy, married in 2025. The following year, Eddie told E! News, "They just had a baby girl. They just had her two weeks ago ... Ari Skye." As of 2026, the "Trading Places" star has four grandchildren, but what you may not know about Eddie Murphy is that he has 10 kids, so he can probably expect more grandbabies in the future.
"Now I can get all the pictures with him," Lawrence concluded at the tribute. "I love you with all my heart and soul. You're my brother, my friend, and you are my in-law."
Peter Sarsgaard is married to Jake Gyllenhaal's sister, Maggie Gyllenhaal
Peter Sarsgaard and Maggie Gyllenhaal married in 2009 and have two kids together. That makes Maggie's famous movie-star brother, Jake Gyllenhaal, a brother-in-law to Sarsgaard. The famous in-laws have done several projects together, including the 2024 Apple+ series "Presumed Innocent."
In the eight-episode limited series, Gyllenhaal plays deputy prosecutor Rusty Sabich, who is accused of the gruesome murder of his mistress. His case is prosecuted by chief deputy prosecutor Tommy Molto, who is played by Sarsgaard. Molto makes the case personal and sees career advancement with a conviction in Sabich's trial.
Gyllenhaal recognized the merit in blurring the line between reality and fiction. "If you have a history with someone and you come and do a scene and it's a fictional world, you get to bring all of that stuff. And, I mean, I love working with Peter. He demands an honesty, not only as a brother, but then also, particularly, as an actor," Gyllenhaal said during an interview with "Today." Sarsgaard also sees the upside in the pair's familiarity. "For two characters, also, that have an antagonistic relationship, it's nice that underneath it, I think what you feel is that people only argue like that that care about each other on some level — and that just existed the entire time," added Sarsgaard.
Chris Pratt is married to Arnold Schwarzenegger's daughter Katherine Schwarzenegger
Imagine having "The Terminator" as your father-in-law. That became the case for Chris Pratt when he married Arnold Schwarzenegger's daughter Katherine in 2019. The "True Lies" star is also the proud grandfather of Pratt and Katherine's four children; the action star has a son from his marriage to ex-wife Anna Faris and three kids with Katherine. During a 2025 visit to "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," the "Guardians of the Galaxy" actor talked about Schwarzenegger's family man side.
"He's so good at giving personalized gifts, like quilts with our faces," Pratt said of his father-in-law. "And for Mother's Day, he had me bring all the children over, and he set up a whole painting party. It was very cute to see the Governator, you know, painting with the girls. And he had the girls make handprints."
Pratt and Schwarzenegger are often seen palling around. "First of all, I'm really happy that he is such a great guy," Schwarzenegger revealed on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" in 2019. "Not only a very talented guy and a great actor ... but a really kind man and kind to my daughter, which is the most important thing for me." However, Schwarzenegger joked that he has asked Katherine why she picked such an impressive man. "You have to have a guy that is taller than me, that is bigger than me, that's done bigger movies than me ... makes more money than me ... What is going on here?"
Cameron Diaz is married to Nicole Richie's brother-in-law, Benji Madden
Rock band Good Charlotte, which features identical twin brothers Joel and Benji Madden, scored a major hit with their song "Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous" in 2002. Who knew that the brothers would both go on to marry rich and famous spouses? Lead vocalist Joel married Nicole Richie in 2010, and guitarist Benji wed Cameron Diaz in 2015, which makes Diaz and Richie sisters-in-law.
A look inside Cameron Diaz's relationship with Benji Madden shows that it was Richie and Joel who introduced the future newlyweds. On a 2014 episode of "Watch What Happens Live," the former reality TV show star took full responsibility and credit for playing matchmaker. "I am a devoted sister-in-law and I am happy for anybody who's happy," said Richie (via ABC News). "I want everyone to be surrounded with love."
The sisters-in-law maintain a good relationship. The "Mask" actor posted on Instagram in 2020 that Richie was helping her with her baby Raddix. "It's the best, we're so lucky," Diaz wrote (via "Today"). "We're so grateful with the fact we can be home here with one another. We're sisters because of our misters and I am SO impressed by and proud of how talented she is."
Ashlee Simpson is married to Diana Ross' son Evan Ross
Pop star Ashlee Simpson married Evan Ross in 2014, which makes music legend Diana Ross her mother-in-law and "Black-ish" actor Tracee Ellis Ross her sister-in-law. Simpson and Ross have two children together, in addition to her son from her marriage to Fall Out Boy bassist Pete Wentz.
The "Pieces of Me" singer has been sure to follow her mother-in-law's guidance. "I mean, Mama D always has the best advice," Simpson told People in 2025. "I think her best advice is staying true to yourself, staying true to your instincts." Simpson also praised the "Upside Down" singer's devotion to family. "[S]he's just a family person. And she's still touring," the singer told Access Hollywood. "And she's just an amazing grandmother and mother-in-law." Ross has spoken about her relationship with her grandkids. "Yes, I go to the park and read books to my grandchildren," she told the Bay Area Reporter (via People). When I'm traveling ... I actually love to text them or FaceTime which keeps us very close as a family." Who are Diana Ross' eight grandchildren? She had all of their names embroidered on the train of her gown at the 2025 Met Gala.
Tracee Ellis Ross attended Simpson's Las Vegas residency "I Am Me" in 2025, which was the first time the singer had performed a set onstage in nearly 20 years. Afterward, Ross took to Instagram to show her support. "Oh how I love you my beautiful joyous sister-in-law!!! @ashleesimpsonross you are meant to be on stage. 90 minutes of pure bops and great clothes!"
Tony Romo is married to Chace Crawford's sister, Candice Crawford
In case you didn't know, NFL star Tony Romo's brother-in-law is a famous "Gossip Girl" alum. Thankfully, Romo didn't marry into a Philadelphia Eagles family. The former starting quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys wed sports journalist Candice Crawford in 2011. It all worked out for Candice's older brother, "The Boys" actor Chace Crawford, who was raised in a family that loved "America's Team." "I grew up in Dallas, big fan," Crawford said on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" in 2020 (via Entertainment Tonight). "It was very surreal to become friends with him. We were the family that took ridiculous Christmas pictures in front of the fireplace with Cowboys starter jackets and white turtlenecks and that's a true story. You know it was the '90s because of the starter jackets. When he became a part of our family, watching those football games became a lot more nerve-wracking."
Romo and Candice share three sons, who in 2020 were still too young to watch their Uncle Chace on "The Boys." The Amazon Prime series is known for its graphic violence, sex, and nudity. "They're not allowed to watch that show yet," Romo told Us Weekly. "I'm like, 'No, that is not your Uncle Chace. That is somebody else!'"
Barbra Streisand is married to Josh Brolin's father, James Brolin
When James Brolin took his third trip down the aisle in 1998 to marry Barbra Streisand, Josh Brolin acquired a new stepmom. The relationships between stepparents and stepchildren can be notoriously difficult, even if the stepchild is an adult. That was the case for the "No Country for Old Men" actor, who admitted in a 2024 interview with Entertainment Tonight (via Instagram) that his relationship with the "Evergreen" singer started out a little rough. "I'm sure there was some, not friction, but there was some reticence with me," said Brolin. "She just has a strong personality, I have a strong personality, when you put those two together you have friction, and it wasn't major, it was minor, but it existed, while my dad kind of hung out on the side and you know, hoped for the best."
Brolin went on to tell a story that he wrote about in his memoir, "From Under the Truck: A Decidedly Un-Celebrity Memoir from the Enigmatic Actor," where he asked for a glass of wine, and Streisand commented, "Yeah but aren't you an alcoholic?" The "Sicario" star didn't take offense to her response but instead admired the Oscar winner's gumption. "It takes, for lack of a better word, balls, and I appreciate that, and I have been surrounded by women who have those," added Brolin.
Patrick Wilson is married to Scott Foley's wife Marika Domińczyk's sister, Dagmara Domińczyk
Patrick Wilson married fellow Carnegie Mellon alumna and "Succession" actor Dagmara Domińczyk in 2005. Dagmara has a younger sister, Marika Domińczyk, who is also an actress. In 2003, Dagmara was in a Broadway play with Scott Foley. She did her best Cupid impression and set up her famous co-star with her sister. It worked out like kismet, and the "Scandal" star and Marika married in 2007. Their marriage made Foley and Wilson brothers-in-law.
The four actors got to share the screen in Foley's 2014 feature directorial debut, "Let's Kill Ward's Wife." Wilson served as a producer on the black comedy. "This is something Scott wrote about two years ago, a story from a dark, ridiculous place in his mind," Wilson told Glamour. "My sister-in-law Marika and I are playing husband and wife. And my wife, Dag, is playing Donald Faison's wife. What's fun about doing this with the family is you know their strengths and comedic chops, and everybody gets a chance to shine."
Foley admitted in an interview with Nylon that working with family has its pluses and minuses. "It was great to go to work every day with my wife, her sister, and her brother-in-law. It was a very incestuous set! ... There's a certain air of comfort that people feel that, as a director, if I say, 'I think you're feeling this way in a scene,' they say, 'No. We're doing it this way.'"
