The Kardashian Interview Moment That Went Too Far

The Kardashians have been making headlines for well over a decade, even before their reality TV series "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" premiered in 2007. Since fully stepping into the spotlight, the Kardashian clan has dealt with everything from doomed marriages to plastic surgery rumors. At times, it might seem like the family's empire has been built solely on drama and negative press.

However, longtime fans would be quick to name the famous family's successful endeavors, including Kim Kardashian's Skims shapewear brand, Khloé Kardashian's inclusive fashion brand Good American, and Kourtney Kardashian's lifestyle website Poosh. Over the years, the Kardashian women have also teamed up to run businesses like Dash Boutique and Kardashian Beauty.

Still, despite their business wins, they've received plenty of backlash since the start of their fame. Case in point? One infamous interview with Barbara Walters back in 2011 as part of her "10 Most Fascinating People" special, right at the height of the Kardashians' early-aughts reign.

Barbara Walters called out the Kardashians

In her 2011 interview with the Kardashians, Barbara Walters had this to say to the family, "You don't really act; you don't sing; you don't dance. You don't have any — forgive me — any talent." Four years later, the interview went viral on the now-defunct video platform Vine (via HuffPost). The bombshell moment gained attention as the world watched a slew of new Kardashian drama in what could be considered one of the family's wildest years yet, per Page Six.

During the sit-down, the Kardashians didn't hold back when explaining their side. "I think it's more of a challenge for you to go on a reality show and get people to fall in love with you for being you. So, there is definitely a lot more pressure, I think, to be famous for being ourselves," Kim Kardashian responded, with Khloé Kardashian adding frankly, "None of us think we have talents."

Over a decade later, the Kardashian interview moment is still memorable, though Walters' words may be up for debate. While "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" has come to an end, the family remains relevant — and rich. In 2021, Kim landed on Forbes' World's Billionaires List. While they're not billionaires, Khloé and Kourtney Kardashian's net worth is certainly nothing to sneeze at.

Even without singing or dancing talents, the Kardashians sure seem to have some impressive business skills.
