Here's What Drew Scott Thinks Of Brother Jonathan Dating Zooey Deschanel
The last two months have been a bit of a whirlwind for Property Brothers' Jonathan Scott and New Girl's Zooey Deschanel.
In early September, People reported that Deschanel and her husband, Jacob Pechenik, had split after a months-long separation. Shortly after, news broke of a possible connection between Scott and Deschanel, who met during a filming of Carpool Karaoke in August. On September 13, Scott was still playing coy with Us Weekly, saying, "I am seeing someone. I'm a very private person, so I don't typically talk about that. It's definitely special for me because I am the guy who raises the bar in what I'm looking for in a partner. I was caught a little off guard. It was definitely a pleasant surprise."
Fast forward a few weeks and the cat is officially out of the bag, as the two were caught smooching at a Dancing With the Stars taping. Now, it seems, the topic of Jonathan's dating life is on the table for discussion, as the Scott brothers dished to Closer Weekly about what Jonathan is looking for in a partner, and what Drew really thinks of his brother's new squeeze.
Drew Scott says Jonathan's girlfriends must pass an 'approval process'
The Property Brothers were happy to spill their own tea as they answered prying questions from Closer, and when asked what qualities he wants to see in his partner, Jonathan answered, "Somebody who's articulate, has a great sense of humor and a fun, optimistic outlook on life. Can't take themselves too seriously."
Drew chimed in, adding one more important requirement to the list of prospective partners for his brother. "And they need to realize there's an approval process," he said. "I have my 'good for Jonathan' checklist. [Zooey and Jonathan are] both amazing people, and I think it's great. It's exciting. It means I get to have Jon out here to spend more time with us in L.A."
Presumably, Deschanel ticks all those boxes for Jonathan, and has passed Drew's approval process, as Drew confirmed that the newly minted couple double dates with him and his wife, Linda Phan. "Of course! We have a lot of the same interests, we have quirky personalities," he said. With his brother's stamp of approval, what more could Jonathan need?
