Kate Hudson loves her musicians. The actor and singer has a history of dating, and even marrying, fellow artists. Her musical dating resume includes her first marriage to The Black Crowes frontman Chris Robinson; she was formerly engaged to Muse lead singer Matt Bellamy; and is currently engaged to musician Danny Fujikawa. Kate Hudson and fiancé Danny Fujikawa have a bit of an age gap, as the two-time Oscar-nominee is about seven years older. The couple has been engaged since 2021 and they share a daughter, Rani Rose Hudson Fujikawa. Danny and Kate also collaborated in the music studio on the "Song Sung Blue" actor's 2024 album "Glorious."

"He makes me feel beautiful every single moment of the day, even when we have fought," the "Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery" actor told People in 2020. "I still feel loved. His devotion to the family unit makes me feel safe and confident and secure." But what have Kate Hudson's former flames said about her?

One thing is for certain: Kate Hudson has proved divorce doesn't have to be messy by staying close with her exes. In fact, most of the "Almost Famous" actor's past loves have had glowing things to say about her. Which Southern rocker called Kate a "great friend"? Which former boy band singer said that he had a "beautiful connection" with the actor? Which former professional baseball player remained surprisingly quiet about his relationship with the Golden Globe winner? Let's get into it.

Chris Robinson says he and ex-wife Kate Hudson are 'great friends'

The year 2000 was a busy one for Kate Hudson, as it was the year she met and wed her first husband, Chris Robinson. And evidently, she knew right away that she wanted to get serious with the rock musician. On a 2023 episode of "The World's First Podcast," Hudson recalled, "I went to New York and I met Chris, and I came home, I was like, 'Oh, I'm marrying this guy.'"

The starlet and The Black Crowes frontman tied the knot in 2000, when Hudson was just 21 years old. They welcomed a son, Ryder Robinson, in 2004. However, their marriage would not last. They announced their separation two years later, and the ink dried on their divorce papers in 2007. Even still, Hudson speaks glowingly of her time with Chris. "He was also so important to teaching me what it felt like to be unconditionally loved," added Hudson.

By many accounts, Chris and Hudson have maintained an amicable dynamic. The "Jealous Again" singer told The Sydney Morning Herald in 2024, "My relationship with Kate Hudson was over before our son Ryder was two years old. I am not afraid of the realities that befall all of us when things go wrong, and I take a lot of pride in being responsible as a parent." But Chris and Hudson are not just co-parents. "Kate (Hudson) and I are great friends and we have a beautiful son," Chris told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The rock star and the Oscar nominee must be doing something right, judging by the stunning transformation of Kate Hudson's son Ryder Robinson, who graduated from NYU in 2026 with the whole family present.

Owen Wilson said Kate Hudson makes everyone 'feel like they're great'

Owen Wilson and Kate Hudson shared an on-again, off-again relationship for about three years. The pair first met while co-starring in the 2006 comedy-romance "You, Me and Dupree" when Hudson was still married to Chris Robinson. Following Hudson's breakup with The Black Crowes singer, Wilson and Hudson dated for about a year before calling it quits in June 2007.

Within the year, Wilson and Hudson started dating again, but things fizzled out after just a few months. In February 2008, they tried yet again, but the couple reportedly broke up for good a year and some change later; evidently, third time wasn't a charm for the two screen stars.

Speaking of charm, Wilson has said time and time again that Hudson is as magnetic and charming in real life as she is in movies and TV shows. "I know with Kate...I think the reason why Matt (Dillon) and I liked her, and why the crew loved her, is Kate is very easy to get laughing ... so you feel like, 'Wow, I'm really on fire today!' And then you realize that she's like that with like the prop master and the caterer, and she kind of makes everybody feel like they're great," Wilson told Radio Free Entertainment in 2006. That same year, he gushed to E! News, "I think that's why everybody kind of falls in love with her, because you think, 'Wow, I'm really funny, Kate is always cracking up.' I think it's kind of like her mother has that same type of quality, just very warm."

Dax Shepard felt 'less than' while he was dating Kate Hudson

Kate Hudson and Dax Shepard dished on their former romance during a 2019 episode of "Armchair Expert." The "Nine" and "Parenthood" stars showed off their friendly chemistry in the interview; Hudson and Shepard shared a brief fling in 2007.

The pair detailed fun anecdotes about their relationship that included a story of Shepard retreating to his "Punk'd" days. Before they started dating, Shepard explained that they wanted to pull a fast one on the paparazzi and walked out of a Malibu restaurant holding hands. Shepard said that the prank led to romance. The former couple shared that they only dated for a few months because they were in different places in their lives.

But it was easy to tell from the interview that both Shepard and Hudson looked back on their brief romance and friendship with fondness. "First of all, very, very fun. [A] very memorable, very wonderful, fun experience," said Shepard. However, dating an A-List star at that point of his career was not without its challenges. "I felt very 'less than' around you quite often," Shepard admitted. "I think I was just in the point where I was not gonna get hired for movies anymore ...  and you were at that time making the most you ever made and having the most opportunity ... It was a rough period anyways and then I felt all kinds of inadequacy in that position."

Lance Armstrong didn't want to repeat history with Kate Hudson

The truth about Kate Hudson and Lance Armstrong's relationship is that neither high-profile celeb was a stranger to having their love life played out in the tabloids. When the pair first got together in the spring of 2008, Hudson was coming off her relationship with Owen Wilson, and Armstrong had just ended his engagement to Sheryl Crow. The "Running Point" star and the cyclist reportedly showed off some PDA in Cannes, France; however, Armstrong was determined to keep their relationship private.

Armstrong did his best to evade answering direct questions about Hudson during a 2008 interview with Men's Journal magazine (via Fox News). "I made a mistake to let the public into my relationship with Sheryl, even though it didn't feel like a mistake at the time," said Armstrong. "It put a lot of pressure on the relationship, and I will never do it again."

Armstrong said that he didn't want to repeat the same mistakes he made with Crow in terms of being public about his personal life. "I'm there as a supportive partner, that's my role," he said. "But sitting down and doing a bunch of photos, like I did with Sheryl, is just wrong, and I won't do that again." Hudson and Armstrong ended their brief romance after only three months.

Alex Rodriguez stayed tight-lipped about his relationship to Kate Hudson

The year 2009 was a banner one for Alex Rodriguez. The New York Yankee slugger won his first and only World Series ring that year, and he also enjoyed a high-profile romance with Kate Hudson. The "Bride Wars" star was often seen cheering for the third baseman during key points in the Yankees' season. The A-Lister and the slugger ended things in the winter of 2009.

A little over a decade later, Oliver Hudson, who is Kate's brother and "Sibling Revelry" co-host, chatted with A-Rod on one of his other podcasts. In 2020, Rodriguez was on an episode of "Daddy Issues," the podcast Oliver hosted with Joe Buck — and Oliver did not tell his sister it was happening. "You didn't even say, like, 'Hey, like, look, I'm thinking of interviewing your ex-boyfriend. Is that cool?'" Kate teased during an episode of Andy Cohen's "Watch What Happens Live." Oliver replied, "I don't want to get a 'no.' " Oliver said that he didn't plan to bring up his sister during the interview with Rodriguez — and even if Oliver did, the baseball star probably wouldn't have said much because he's never said much about Kate.

What we know about Kate Hudson and Alex Rodriguez's relationship is actually limited because the former American League MVP has always kept pretty mum about their time together. In 2009, however, an unnamed source who was supposedly close to Rodriguez did tell Us Weekly that the baseball player apparently ended things with Hudson because she was too obsessed with getting attention during games. "It was a turnoff to have a girlfriend who always wanted to be on camera," the source claimed.

Matt Bellamy said his split with Kate Hudson was 'for the best'

Kate Hudson really wanted her relationship with Muse frontman Matt Bellamy to work out. The couple first met at Coachella in 2010 and started dating. The relationship took off quickly. "In the beginning I felt like, okay, this is going to be heavy," she told InStyle in 2011 (via People). "But I just couldn't stay away. I wanted to talk to him and be with him all the time."

The pair fell in love and got engaged in 2011. A short time later, they welcomed son Bingham Bellamy. However, instead of walking down the aisle, Hudson and Matt called off their engagement in 2014. While the "Almost Famous" actor has not shied away from talking publicly about her love life, Bellamy has not been so open with the media. However, he did address his breakup with Hudson on Twitter. "Love all of you guys!" he wrote on X. "We're both very happy, it's for the best. Thanks for your kind words. Now about that new album."

Hudson has said that she remains close with Matt and it appears the two have an amicable co-parenting situation. When asked about co-parenting with Hudson during a 2018 interview with The Independent, Bellamy stated, "It's all going well, everybody seems to be pretty friendly. From my experience in LA it's the modern family ... there hasn't been any bitterness or weirdness like that."

Nick Jonas said that he and Kate Hudson had a 'beautiful connection'

Ready for some juicy details about Kate Hudson's brief age-gap romance with a famous singer who happens to have the last name Jonas? It's not Kevin Jonas or Joe Jonas, but their younger brother Nick Jonas. According to People, the "Fools Gold" actor and the "Levels" crooner made their public debut at Disney World in 2015. They reportedly enjoyed several dates that included a ski vacation. There is about a 13-year age gap between them, which is just a few years more than the ten-year age gap that Nick has with his wife, "Citadel" actor Priyanka Chopra Jonas.

Hudson and Nick never made their relationship official to the press; however, the former Disney star addressed his chemistry with Hudson during a 2016 interview with Complex. "Kate's incredible," said Nick. "We had an unbelievable connection as two humans who just admire things about each other, and see something in each other that's beautiful."

When the interviewer asked Nick if he and Hudson were intimate, the pop star gracefully avoided the invasive question. "Out of my best effort to respect her and her privacy, I'm not going to say if we had sex or not," he said. "But we did have a beautiful connection. Even now I have so much admiration and respect. She's amazing."
