Will There Be A Rock The Block Season 2?

The first season of HGTV's crossover competition show Rock the Block culminated with Jasmine Roth, star of Hidden Potential, walking away with the win. Roth's chic design was appraised at a whopping $1,020,000, which was $15,000 higher than Good Bones' Mina Starsiak, who came in second with a $1,005,000 appraisal. Roth had the street where the property was located named after her in honor of her triumph.

It was a satisfying end to a season loaded with that good, clean, fun HGTV spirit. As reported by House Beautiful at the time, Roth's other two competitors in the home makeover competition, Windy City Rehab's Alison Victoria and Restored by the Fords' Leanne Ford, won an episode each before she stormed in, winning one herself followed by the big finale, also. A modest Roth took to Twitter to share her surprise, noting, "I was SHOCKED that I won #RockTheBlock. Truly. The other three ladies are SO dang talented (and wonderful!!) and I am very lucky to call them close friends."

At least one competitor is eager to return for Rock the Block Season 2

With an evidently huge amount of camaraderie shared between these four talented ladies, and with Property Brothers' Drew Scott as a host, the success of Rock the Block seemed all but guaranteed. Indeed, it was a big seller for HGTV, garnering a total of 17.7 million viewers across its debut season, according to a report in Multi Channel. It also ranked as the overall #2 streamed show on HGTV's digital platforms.

A second season, either with a new cast of contractors (HGTV surely has plenty to choose from) or the same foursome heading in for round two, feels like a no-brainer, but to date nothing has been confirmed either way. Premiere Date advises Rock The Block hasn't been renewed. Likewise, TV Release Dates notes the show is in limbo, having been neither cancelled nor renewed just yet. TV Dates Watch, meanwhile, claimed to have contacted "the powers that be" and come back only with a status of "pending."

At least one competitor is down to rock the block again, as Roth told Pop Culture she'd be delighted to come back for Season 2. The Hidden Potential star even suggested another beloved HGTV lady to join her. "Let's bring back Joanna Gaines!," she enthused, "I mean, I think I could win, but it would be really fun to work with her."
