Alec Baldwin Just Revealed He's Living Apart From Hilaria For An Important Reason

Alec Baldwin and his wife, Hilaria, are not living together, but it's not because of what you're thinking of. If you may recall, at the end of last year, Hilaria was called out for faking a Spanish accent. The podcaster and author posted a video to her Instagram in response to comedian Amy Schumer making a joke about a lingerie picture she posted of herself. In the video, the influencer was missing the Spanish accent she was known for (via Vulture). Hilaria Baldwin was quickly called out and criticized for misrepresenting her roots and appropriating Spanish culture before admitting that she was from Boston (via NBC News).

Any backlash like that can be stressful, and it doesn't just stop with Hilaria. Alec was reportedly also "very upset" over the heritage controversy. A source close to the couple told ET that Alec was supportive of Hilaria throughout the whole ordeal. However, now, the two are living apart, but that's due to COVID-19.

Alec and Hilaria are taking COVID-19 precautions seriously

Page Six reported that since Alec Baldwin is currently filming a project that has him going back and forth to the city, he's been staying at a rental house away from his wife and kids. They're being cautious with the COVID-19 pandemic still ongoing. However, Gossip Cop also reported that there were rumors the couple have been fighting over the Spanish heritage controversy and there are some tensions in their marriage. The only real evidence of this tension between the two are a few paparazzi photos of Alec looking unhappy, which isn't very concrete at all.

It's already been stated that Hilaria and Alec are upset over the social media attacks, so it could just be the family is still dealing with some residual stress from all of that drama. Also, you can't always look happy running errands while paparazzi are following you, so it makes sense that Alec would not be as chipper as can be.

Along with all of that, Alec has also stated that being in lockdown has been hard (via Daily Mail). The actor tweeted that this past year has taught him that less is more, and that meant "[l]ess clothes, less talk, less food, less media," and "[a]bove all, less people." So, maybe Alec is just practicing what he tweets and using this time away from his family to deal with less.
