Which Duggar Family Members Are Active On Social Media?

Trigger warning: The following article contains references to the sexual abuse of children.

For years, the Duggar family of rural Arkansas allowed their lives to be filmed for the hit reality series "19 Kids & Counting," and its spin-off, "Counting On." Even if they could never imagine raising that many children, fans still admired the way parents Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar managed to keep order and harmony. Other viewers praised the Duggars' determination to live by their faith and traditional values. The series came to an abrupt end, however, after the now-infamous scandal surrounding the oldest son, Josh Duggar, came to light. But despite the stain on the family's reputation, the other Duggar children still have plenty of fans who enjoy hearing about all the moves, marriages, and births that have taken place since the series ended.

Many of the adult Duggar kids have Instagram accounts: some are on Twitter as well, and a few even have webpages of their own. The siblings also follow each other, and it's not unusual to see, say, Joy Duggar's name among the likes on a post by her sister Jinger Duggar. So which of the mega-TV family members are most active on social media? The answer might surprise you.

Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar post about family events

The heads of the huge clan are Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar. Back when they had just 14 children, they were interviewed for a 2003 article in Parents magazine, which soon led to their two lucrative reality shows. Then their lives were upended by the news that their oldest son, Josh Duggar, had been arrested on counts of receiving and possessing child sexual abuse material. The devastated parents stood by their son as he went through his trial and sentencing, with Michelle even writing a letter of leniency to the judge. Josh was sentenced to more than 12 years in federal prison, and his parents have opted to keep a low profile since then.

The couple has a family webpage and an Instagram account, where they share such news as Jim Bob's (failed) 2021 run for Arkansas State Senate. Their account has been inactive in recent months, however. Jim Bob and Michelle's last Insta post was in May 2022, when they congratulated son Jedidiah on the birth of his new son. Two other grandsons have been born since then, and two other children have announced pregnancies — which will bring the total number of "GrandDuggars" to a whopping 27. But Duggar Central has remained oddly silent.

Jill Duggar Dillard keeps her fans updated

Jill Duggar Dillard is the fourth of the 19 siblings, but in recent years, she has carved out a life independent of her family. Married to lawyer Derick Dillard, she is on chilly terms with her parents because of her dad's controlling ways. Now, her fans follow her on her webpage and active Instagram account, where she shares photos of family outings, date nights, and relatable moments (such as an overflowing laundry basket). Jill is also upfront about her personal struggles. When brother Josh Duggar was convicted of his crimes, for instance, she and Derick posted their stern reaction. In the fall of 2021, Jill revealed that she had suffered a miscarriage in the early weeks of a new pregnancy.

2022 has been especially busy for the Dillards so far, as Derick received his law license and took a new job in Oklahoma. The family moved to Siloam Springs, Arkansas, to make the commute easier. Best of all, Jill gave birth to her third son, Frederick Michael Dillard, on July 7. Oddly, her page went silent immediately afterward, and then Jill's return to Insta left fans scratching their heads as she explained that the family had been "locked down and unable to post for a while." Since then, Jill has shared a scary postpartum health update about needing gallbladder surgery. Happily, she has recovered, and is finally returning to a regular mom life of backyard picnics and park outings.

Jinger Duggar promotes her new projects online

Jinger Duggar Vuolo and her husband, Jeremy Vuolo, have traded their quiet life in Arkansas for a busier one in Los Angeles. Jeremy, a former pro soccer player, recently graduated from a seminary and works in a ministry. The couple keeps busy raising their daughters, enjoying big-city life, and working on projects such as their recent children's book, "You Can Shine So Bright!"

Jinger maintains her own Instagram page, as does Jeremy; they post about their holidays, milestones, and family outings. They also have a YouTube channel, where they share news and cooking tips. Sometimes they face backlash, as when Jinger revealed her new hobby of decorating expensive Nike sneakers, or when Jeremy and his brother took their dad out fishing and caught a small shark (he threw the fish back, FYI). They've also gotten heat for the questionable messaging in their children's book, which they've promoted online.

But fans are most excited to see signs that Jinger has evolved from her strict upbringing, such as wearing pants and attending a concert (the senior Duggars didn't allow their kids to listen to secular artists, so seeing Michael Bublé was a major departure). Most recently, Jinger announced a super unexpected move: After living in a rental house for three years, the Vuolos bought their own home.

Jessa Duggar Seewald gets a lot of mom-shaming

Jessa Duggar Seewald is the fifth of the 19 Duggar offspring, sandwiched between Jill and Jinger Duggar. She and husband Ben Seewald have four children, ranging in age from 6-year-old Spurgeon to 1-year-old Fern. She keeps fans entertained on her Instagram account with cute-kid moments and updates on the renovation of their new home. Occasionally, she also partners with sponsors to earn commission by promoting their products.

But Jessa takes a lot of heat over her attempts to show a realistic look at family life. For instance, a recent photo Jessa shared of her children caused controversy over Spurgeon's weight. Followers have also called her out for leaving messes on the floor, letting toddler Ivy climb into the refrigerator, and photographing son Henry sleeping with a goldfish cracker in his mouth (a choking hazard!). Even a video showing the kids quietly painting pictures at their new dining-room table sent some fans into a tizzy over the thought of watercolors staining the wood.

Most recently, Jessa stirred the pot yet again for sharing a video of little Fern unspooling a roll of toilet paper. Though she was trying to send a "cherish these moments" message, some followers wondered whether she was rebelling against her restrictive childhood by being too permissive (via The U.S. Sun). This Duggar daughter just can't seem to catch a break.

Jeremiah and Jedidiah have shared their love stories

The second set of twins in the family, Jeremiah "Jer" and Jedidiah "Jed" Duggar have a lot in common. They share a love of adventure and outdoor sports, a talent for building (Jer has his own construction company), a strong religious faith, and a presence on social media. They don't post as often as their big sisters, but when they do, it's usually to share some major news. Jed used the platform to campaign when he ran for a seat in the Arkansas State House of Representatives in 2019, for instance.

Most recently, the twins' love stories have taken center stage. Jed (right photo) entered into a quiet courtship with Katey Nakatsu and married in April 2021, just weeks after announcing their engagement. In true Duggar fashion, a pregnancy announcement followed five months later, and the couple welcomed son Truett Oliver in May 2022. Not one to be left behind, Jeremiah revealed his courtship with Hannah Wissmann in October 2021. They married the following March, and five months later, Jeremiah and Hannah shared the happy news that they, too, are about to add a branch to the Duggar family tree. "I'm so grateful for the many blessings in life right now," Jer wrote on Instagram. "The top being my incredible wife who brings so much joy to each day, and our precious little baby on the way!"

Fans are wondering why Jana's Insta has gone silent

Jana, the oldest Duggar daughter, is something of an anomaly in her family. Still single and living at home at 32, Jana is apparently content to stay that way. Over the years, she's been rumored to have been courting a couple of men (the Duggars don't believe in casual dating), but nothing has been proven yet. A family friend has told Distractify that Jana may not be as eager to rush into marriage as her siblings, most of whom wed within a year of courting their spouses. "I think she's probably just waiting for the right person," the friend said.

When she's not helping out with her younger sisters or her nieces and nephews, Jana assists brothers Jason and James Duggar with their home-renovation projects and tends to her large garden. Normally a regular Instagram poster, Jana has been inactive on her page since March 2022, leading fans to wonder whether she's deliberately keeping a low profile. A few months earlier, Jana was charged with the crime of endangering the safety of a minor. She admitted in a statement that she had been babysitting when one of the children in her care slipped out of the house unnoticed. The case was settled out of court, per NBC's "Today," but it was still an embarrassing moment for a former reality-TV star. Even so, her followers are hoping she'll come back to social media soon.

Joy-Anna is leading a joyful life on social media

Joy-Anna Duggar Forsyth has followed in (most of) her famous family's footsteps, marrying young and settling quickly into family life. The Forsyths have two children: Gideon Martyn, 4, and Evelyn Mae, 2.

Joy maintains an active Instagram account, where she shares family photos, cute videos (like a clip reel of Evy saying "No!"), and highlights of trips, such as a camping trip she and Austin recently took to Alaska. However, not every post is a winner with followers. When Joy shared a photo of Gideon watching TV as "preschool prep," fans wondered whether this was the best way to prepare her son for school (via The U.S. Sun). Some also were puzzled over a pic of Gideon with a backpack, since Joy has opted to homeschool him. However, other homeschooling moms commented that they, too, use backpacks to carry supplies on mom-guided field trips.

To the delight of fans, Joy-Anna announced the big news on October 5 that her family is expanding again. Baby No. 3 is due in May 2023. The Forsyths' YouTube channel captures the tearful moment when the couple found out, along with details of Joy's first OB appointment. Because of a previous miscarriage and a difficult pregnancy, she is considered high-risk. Joy wrote, "We would appreciate your prayers these next [seven] and half months for a safe pregnancy and delivery."

The rest of the Duggars are more private

The other Duggar brothers are less forthcoming about sharing their lives online. Joseph Duggar, married with three children, hasn't posted to his Instagram account since daughter Addison's birthday in 2021. Josiah Duggar, married with one daughter, is even more private; his account is invitation-only. Jason and James Duggar toss up an occasional photo; James is learning to fly a helicopter, and Jason (seen at right) has his own construction business. When younger bro Justin Duggar announced his engagement and marriage to Claire Spivey in 2021, he kept his Insta account active, but he has posted less frequently since then.

John-David Duggar, the third of the 19 siblings (he's Jana Duggar's twin), shares a joint Instagram account with his wife, Abbie. Their page was idle for a while, but they just announced the birth of their first son, Charlie, in September. In August, they shared photos of Abbie's baby shower, where Jill, Jana, and Joy-Anna Duggar were guests.

The youngest brother, Jackson Duggar, doesn't have an online presence yet, but at 18, that may soon change. Per the Duggar Family website, he recently graduated from the ALERT Academy, a Christian military-type organization that teaches first-responder skills.

The last of the Duggar children are daughters Johannah, Jennifer, Jordyn-Grace, and Josie Duggar, who range in age from 17 to almost 13. Fans will be waiting to see what their future — and their future Instagram pages — will hold.
